Abstract
The cortical folding patterns of the human brain vary widely across individuals, and are unique like a finger print. The mechanisms of cortical folding are poorly understood and some variations in cortical folding have been implicated in certain diseases. In this presentation, I will discuss some of the models that my research group has developed to elucidate mechanisms involved in cortical folding, including biochemical effects modeled as Turing patterns and axonal tension effects modeled as biomechanical stress-strain.
