Established in 2022, the FSU Mathematics Distinguished Lecture Series is an annual event that features an outstanding researcher from any area of mathematics.
Beginning in 2026, the lecture series will be renamed the De Witt Sumners Distinguished Lecture in Mathematics in honor of Emeritus Professor of Mathematics De Witt Sumners, who pioneered applications of knot theory to biology and retired from FSU in 2007.
